Start your day off right
How do you start your day?
Many people immediately check their email, social media, or the news.
I don’t know about you, but these things tend to be stressful for me!
I think it might be more helpful to start with feeling good, then take on the day’s challenges.
So here’s what I’ve been experimenting with lately instead.
Begin with Relaxation
Start by taking 1-5 minutes to just relax and center yourself.
You could use my free Rapid Relaxation Training audio to train yourself to relax on command.
Just listen to that once, and then from then on you just need your Rapid Relaxation Ritual, which takes 30-60 seconds.
Or you could light a candle, put on some soft music, and burn some incense.
Whatever helps you get into a relaxed, focused state!
Add in Happiness
Then ask yourself, “What am I happy about right now?”
Or it could be “What am I grateful for right now?”
Come up with three things.
Then really take in the good feelings in your body for at least 10-30 seconds.
The key is to really soak it in, to feel good physically and emotionally.
Then brainstorm some “options” for today.
These are not “to-do’s,” not things you have to do today.
They are options, choices, as if from a menu.
When you go into a restaurant, there are many options to choose from.
But you don’t have to eat them all today!
Pick 3 Most Important Things
There are always endless things you could do.
But not everything is equally important.
So what I do is pick 3 Most Important Things I am choosing to do today.
I remind myself that I don’t have to get them done, and really feel into that.
My productivity does not determine my self-worth.
Just being is enough.
And I am capable, I am powerful, I can get things done.
I can choose what I do today.
And it’s also OK if I make mistakes.
If I fail to get the important things done, I will Acknowledge the truth, Forgive myself, Learn something new, and Iterate and improve based on what I learned (AFLI).
And I love learning.
So I can’t wait to learn something new today!
Ready for Action
Now I’m ready for the day.
I’m relaxed, happy, empowered, and focused on what’s important.
Feel free to experiment with this if it resonates with you.
And also feel free to adapt or change it until it’s SUPER DUPER AWESOME for you.
Because ultimately, you are an experiment of one.
