Chronically exhausted? Do this.
“I’m soooo tired.”
I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve said this in my life.
The truth is, I’ve struggled with chronic fatigue and excessive daytime sleepiness for most of my adult life.
It’s funny because when I tell people I know about this, they always say…
…”Really? You seem like you have a lot of energy.”
And in a way that’s true.
But when you feel like you need to take a nap 5 or 6 times a day to function, that can feel extremely debilitating.
I cracked the code
Lately however, I’ve been experiencing consistent high energy most days.
And I know exactly how to boost my aliveness whenever I want.
So I think I cracked the code.
The first thing I’ve been doing is clearing my shit, an hour or two every day.
I allow things to bubble up from the unconscious using free writing aka “Morning Pages.”
And then I do something to interrupt the pattern, and do this over and over, alternating back and forth.
I’ve been doing this for about a year and a half now.
That has absolutely worked to boost my energy, because I’m not running all that subconscious stress anymore.
I’m much more able to just feel my feelings and let them go.
This has not been an easy path, mind you.
I had to finally face some deep, dark stuff in my unconscious that was so intense it was hidden from me.
But now I know I’m able to handle anything that could come my way.
Aliveness experiments
The other thing I’m doing I call The Aliveness Lab.
I’m running aliveness experiments to discover exactly what actions I can take in 5-20 minutes that boost my aliveness score on a scale from 0-100.
I’ve found it’s important to think of this in terms of aliveness rather than energy.
When we’re suffering from “low energy,” we usually have a battery metaphor operating.
We assume energy is limited, not abundant.
And we assume that “doing stuff” uses up energy, rather than gives us energy.
The truth is that lying around in bed rotting doesn’t necessarily restore your energy, whereas doing stuff that moves your body and lights up your soul does.
So the solution to chronic low aliveness is to design your life around activities that give you more juice, things that turn you on and light you up.
Step one is to run your own aliveness experiments, to see what does that for you.
What’s your aliveness score?
The key is to get out of all-or-nothing thinking using a 0-100 aliveness score.
Zero aliveness is when you feel barely alive, like a zombie in The Walking Dead.
That feels like you’re barely able to move, or can’t even get out of bed.
No energy, no motivation, no zest for life.
Whereas a one hundred aliveness score is when you’re fully alive.
You’re motivated, joyful, fully of energy and vitality, and in the flow.
You can feel the difference in other people, and people can feel the difference in you too.
And there are infinite things you can do to boost your aliveness in a few minutes.
People can feel it
One time years ago, I was doing a lot of ecstatic movement practice, almost 2 hours a day.
I got on a free consultation call with someone very sensitive to energy, and before I began she said, “Woah, you have a LOT of energy!”
So being more alive also can wake up other people around you.
It can not only give you more energy to get things done, it can also increase your charisma, your creativity, and your joy.
I’ve been enjoying discovering just how many ways I can boost my aliveness score 10 or 20 or even 40+ points in 5-20 minutes.
And when I get up to 100, something pretty amazing happens.
It starts to feel like “universal life force energy” (or whatever you want to call it), is flowing through me, guiding my life, and expressing itself through me.
Which is probably what’s already happening all the time anyway. 😆
But feeling it, wow. It’s something else.
Boosting our aliveness score is something we’ll be exploring in my upcoming 3-day training for Hypnothoughts Live 2026, called Ecstatic Trance-Formation.
