Absolute confidence
What’s the most common obstacle that stops people from reaching their goals?
It’s not external circumstances.
It’s not lack of time or money.
It’s fear, uncertainty, and doubt (FUD).
But luckily, confidence is a skill.
And you can develop absolute, unshakable confidence.
You can train to feel 100% secure within yourself, more and more often.
Because this is actually who you already are at your core.
Getting unstuck
As soon as we try to play a bigger game, we get stuck in the FUD.
We might feel afraid: “What if it doesn’t work?”
Or we get confused: “I just don’t know what to do!”
And so we start to doubt ourselves: “I don’t think I can handle this.”
That’s just the FUD talking though.
It’s not who you really are.
At your core, you are a badass.
Deep down, you know you can do it.
You are actually totally clear about what you want and don’t want.
And you are completely capable of achieving it.
Any time you don’t feel confident, it’s probably just some bullshit you learned from the larger culture.
Specifically from what I call “The Punishment Paradigm.”
Why do we feel FUD?
FUD is especially common with women, minorities, and queer and neurodivergent folks.
That should already make us suspicious.
The fact is, we were trained by the dominant culture to…
- play small,
- hide our true selves,
- and try to “fit in” with a world that never recognized or appreciated us for who we are.
Fuck that!
Luckily, it’s always possible to get unstuck.
And reclaiming our inner power is precisely what will change the world.
You are powerful
Feeling powerless is part of what maintains the status quo.
So feeling optimistic and powerful is the deepest form of activism.
Imagine if every oppressed person felt like an unstoppable superhero!
The world would change overnight.
That’s what all superhero movies are about, by the way.
X-Men is about a school for neurodivergent, gifted weirdos run by a disabled man.
Superman is about an adopted immigrant orphan who saves the world.
No matter how weird you think you are, you are already a superhero.
The world is waiting for you to step into your power and claim it.
Gaslighting creates FUD
FUD is a dark propaganda tactic.
It’s used by authoritarian politicians and manipulative marketers to plant fear and doubt into your mind.
The idea is to get you to doubt your own experience so fully that you can’t trust yourself anymore.
Then they swoop in with a clear command, and you feel relief following it.
In hypnosis, there is a similar technique called a confusion induction.
Most people hate the feeling of being confused, so they’ll do anything to get out of it.
In a confusion induction, the hypnotist first says a bunch of very confusing stuff.
Then they follow it with a clear suggestion like “relax, and go deeply into trance.”
In the context of a healing hypnosis session, that can be a useful tool to help busy analytical minds let go.
But when pursuing your dreams, feeling confused is precisely not what you want.
From confusion to clarity
If you’re feeling confused, it might be that you just don’t understand something yet.
Confusion is a natural stage before learning anything new.
But it also might be because someone is trying to get you to do what they want.
For those of us with a lot of FUD, it’s often because we were consistently doubted by others, over and over, until we questioned our own reality.
We were gaslit, and now we gaslight ourselves.
Once we recognize this however, we can stop at any moment.
Doubting the doubt
Questioning is a good thing.
It can help us discover the truth.
But fundamentally questioning our own sense of reality over and over again is not helpful.
Instead, we can question the FUD itself.
Do you have to believe in your fears, or can you feel safe and secure instead?
Can you not experience clarity now?
What would it feel like, in your body, if you felt absolute confidence, more and more each day?
Confidence doesn’t mean being better than anyone else.
It doesn’t mean being closed to feedback.
It means being in touch with your true nature:
Calm, clear, and capable.
Hypnosis can help reveal this true nature.
Not by tricking you into believing something that’s not true about yourself.
But by unlearning the trance of fear, uncertainty, and doubt.
You can absolutely experience absolute confidence.
I believe in you.
You’ve got this.
Take care,

~Duff
